Xcom 2 Mac Mods
There are two ways to install mods: you can either subscribe to mods via the Steam Workshop (this installs the mods automatically), or you can download mods from other sources and install them manually.
Xcom 2 Mac Mods
Many mods are incompatible with each other. Enabling incompatible mods may cause the game to crash. If you plan to enable multiple mods at once, we recommend checking the mods' documentation for information about their compatibility with other mods.
It is possible to add mods to a saved game: you can enable mods and load a saved game made before those mods were enabled. However, we recommend enabling any mods you want to use before starting a new game, rather than adding them to an existing game.
It is not possible to remove mods from a saved game: if you save a game while using one or more mods, you must always have those mods enabled while playing that saved game. If you disable any of those mods, you will be unable to load the saved game.
You can download mods and enable them using the Mod Manager. To access the Mod Manager, select the Mod Manager tab on the pre-game Options window (this is the window that appears when you launch the game).
The base XCOM games are a blast, full of deep tactical gameplay and a decent amount of customization. Gamers have expanded even further on the game through mods over the years. Some are basic UI tweaks or simple gameplay adjustments; others are major overhauls that could be considered spin-offs all on their own. Here is a collection of some of the most essential mods to make any further War of the Chosen playthroughs feel fresh and new.
Perhaps one of the handiest War of The Chosen mods you can download, the More Base Utility Slots by Astral Descend. This add-on lets your squad bring in more items to a fight and it can be a massive help at times.
Arguably this is by far one of the hardest and best Xcom 2 mods you can download. The Hive, which was created by a team of 11 popular modders is an unforgiving but brutally fun addon that can cause complete anarchy at times, especially on some of the higher difficulty missions.
The Lost at the best of times feel more like a nuisance than a real threat, but with World War L you can give them more of a fighting chance. One of the best Xcom 2 WotC mods created for the Lost faction, it gives them substantially more units, skins, and animations.
The Bio Troops mod counters this perfectly with another of perhaps the best Xcom 2 mods you will get to try as it adds more diverse Advent troopers to mow down. These green-clad lads use all sorts of nasty biotech and buffs that can devastate the unprepared. It also scales their difficulty up as you progress providing more of a challenge for even the most seasoned of Xcom Commanders.
Each of your mods will be in a folder within the 268500. The folder name for each of your mods will be a bunch of numbers that are also found in its workshop URL. For example, 872398472 is the ID here:
The mod has also been warmly received by video game journalists. Wired praised the amount of content added by the game and called it "the absolute best way to play XCOM". In a video explaining the mod, Eurogamer's Chris Bratt also praised the amount of new content, but was especially appreciative that the mod forced players to develop new strategies instead of relying on the tactics they used in the base game.(at 1:20) Alec Meer of Rock, Paper, Shotgun complimented the mod for keeping the game fresh and capturing the feeling of surviving impossible odds, and gave the mod his strongest possible recommendation. The mod was profiled in PC Gamer's "Mod of the Week" feature in late 2014, and in a separate piece a year later, the publication praised how much the team behind the mod was able to accomplish considering that the base game was not built to support modding. Rock, Paper, Shotgun's Adam Smith, in an article announcing that the Long War team were in "pre-Kickstarter development" of their own game, called Long War "one of the best mods of all time".
In his article recommending the mod, Alec Meer of Rock, Paper, Shotgun speculated that the Long War mod influenced the development of XCOM 2. One area where Long War's influence was acknowledged was in the decision to support modding. The development team recognized that Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within were exceptionally difficult to mod, and aimed to make modding more accessible in the sequel. At a panel with XCOM 2 developers, Ryan McFall remarked that "we kind of watched in morbid fascination the Long War crew kind of hacking our game apart" before going on to provide a list of features and assets that would be available to people interested in modding XCOM 2. Jake Solomon pointed to the successes of Long War and mods to games in the Civilization franchise in explaining the decision to support modding.
As if XCOM fans needed more reasons to be excited about the upcoming release of XCOM 2, publisher 2K has announced a partnership between Firaxis and Long War Studios, creators of the popular Long War mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, directed toward developing multiple, officially supported mods that are slated to launch alongside the game on February 5.
One of the most respected fan-made mods for any PC game, Long War extends and turns up the difficulty of the campaign from Enemy Unknown (and its expansion, Enemy Within) by adding new soldier classes and equipment, along with substantial overhauls to the strategic metagame. Increasing the challenge substantially, Long War adds a fantastic degree of depth and replayability to an already excellent game. Many players who found the base game too easy once mastered, especially fans of the original games from the 90s, have declared Long War to be the definitive way to play, and it is undoubtedly a major factor in the enduring longevity of the 2012 classic.

This game is an excellent follow-up to X-COM, and has really enhanced gameplay with the sequel. Tactical combat is still very much the same, but new variables are added that really freshen up th game, with zombie hordes that kill friend and foe alike and alien hunters that seem to show up at the most inopportunte times. The story is decent too, great graphics, tons of DLC and even more DLC from the workshop mods (Like the excellent Long War mod, which completely revolutionizes the game). Even if you aren't a huge fan of sci-fi, if you ever thought it would be fun to be in command of a heavily armed squad in a futuristic urban envirnment that gets destryoyed around you as the battle rages, this may be for you.
The XCOM 2 mods for Wrex, Grunt, Liara and Mordin have all been updated for use in War of the Chosen. Give Wrex a shotgun and a sword and see how he takes to being threatened by the Chosen. As of version 0.18.5, our new mod manager Vortex now supports modding for all of the above games meaning you can use Vortex to mod 59 different games total.
I can see them and turn them on in the launcher but they don't do anything in game. I have tried moving them from the workshop folder into the mods folder I created; I was able to select the mods their from the launcher but they still didn't do anything. I have deleted and regened the xcom2 folder in my documents as well as deleting and reinstalling all of my mods. I know that there were some issues with this in the past but none of the fixes that worked for that have helped me at all.
I click the play button on the main screen and it goes to the error message minimum of directx 10.1 required. I hit the ok button and then I get the message that steam servers are too busy to handle your request for xcom 2 error code 41
Warning: Because some mods modify game resources in a critical way, doing this can lead to unexpected behavior or even game crashes. Nevertheless, adding mods to existing save games is needed in some cases.
The loading order is visible by indices next to activated mods 2. Click on the number and use one of the four arrows to move the mod in the loading order. The double arrows move the mod to the first or last place of the loading order, the single arrows move them by one place.
In many cases it is not required to change the loading order. If you use some mods that override files of others or manipulate them by script, they might be needed to be loaded last. Some other mods might depend on scripts of other mods which have to be loaded before. Make sure that you activated all dependencies if a mod requires some, too. Usually the mod description or the description in the Steam Workshop or download location contain information regarding load order, dependencies and incompatibilities. 350c69d7ab
